Overview

The Regional Engagement Challenge funds new innovative mechanisms and approaches that have the potential to enhance the technology-based ecosystem in NM. The purpose of this support is to help the Richard P. Feynman Center’s partners explore and implement new methods of ecosystem development to increase technology commercialization, stimulate new business startups, attract entrepreneurs, create alternative job opportunities, and attract businesses and capital to the region.

Project Proposal

Organizations will be able to request a sponsorship through a simple application outlining funding requested how the funds will be used, the goals of this use, and how the requestor will measure and assess outcomes and successes. Interested organizations must submit proposals by February, 18 2022

FCI hopes the Regional Engagement Challenge will help New Mexico create a stronger network for New Mexico technology businesses and stimulate economic growth in the science and technology sectors.

Key Considerations

Requestors

  • All Requestors must be non-profit entities

Funding

  • Requestors may request up to $10,000 and can apply as individuals or teams (two or more organizations work together)
  • Funding requests must be thoughtful, measured, and tailored to the level of effort
  • FCI will meet with finalists and may request re-scoped proposals according to programmatic needs and funding constraints.
  • FCI reserves the right to fund none, one, several or all of the submitted proposals.

Proposed Activities

  • All activities must be new initiatives. The REC sponsorship is not intended to be reoccurring funding.
  • Proposed activities must support these technology areas of focus: 1) Advanced Materials; 2) Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Computing; 3) Biotechnology; 4) Space Systems; & 5) Energy Transitions
  • All activities must be complete by September 30, 2022

Key Dates

  • Call Opens January 21 , 2022
  • Information Session February 8, 2022 at 12:00pm MST
  • Proposals due February 18, 2022
  • Proposal selected to move forward will be notified March 4, 2022
